Matters arising from SG 4/9/03

Website now live under www.rbcforum.freeserve.co.uk

Further discussion about design and need for extra content and need to update news regularly

JSO  AS  BR

b

BOAT 401  A favourable decision had now been made, but the landowner had until end November to appeal again. After that date we would begin to put pressure on the Council & Sustrans to re-surface the bridleway and put up proper signs.

KH

C

CTC membership costs  SCC have overspent their cycling budget and it was doubtful whether they would pay more than a nominal amount. Costs based on 20 active members would be £68 and as we have raised £160 on rides this year, agreed the Forum would pay the CTC costs.

a

Matters arising from full Forum 2/11/03

Cycle routes   Suggestions required from all members for rides of 5-30 miles, from various starting points. KH to email asking for ideas, still hopefully to be finalised by March

KH

b

Bike storage at railway stations  Lockers now installed at Redhill (10), Horley & Reigate, at a cost of approx £50 p.a. each. Survey of facilities now completed.

c

Cycle training   No response yet from RBBC to request for funding, so JSO to chase up.  CTC had funds available to train up to 100 instructors nationally, more info requested

JM

c

The BMX track was under way, with 15,000 from the Lottery (50% of total cost)  There was an insurance issue

JM

d

NCN22   Applied for SITA funding, and were in dispute with MVDC/SCC over proposed route. Relations with both Councils generally bad, and concern about poor maintenance of cycle routes and lack of concern for cyclists’ safety

JM

e

MVCF no longer working on Cycle Day because of a lack of active membership. However, they were planning to re-launch the forum in December, and would make decision later about future activities. They would like to continue to promote the Little Villages tour, as that was a real success.

JM

7

Sunday rides  All ride leaders needed to be registered with the CTC in 14 days and to be competent. Comprehensive guidelines were available

JSO

8

National Bike Week 2004   Suggested that instead of the information stall, we do a 2nd-hand bike sale together with St Johns School, and a proper Dr Bike facility

JSO

9

Cycle storage at East surrey Hospital   David said these were very poor, with few racks and inadequate access. AE confirmed this and would check the strategy document
